Summary
Royal Park Medical is a private billing practice.
Fees are payable on the day of your appointment. Charges vary depending on the length of time you spend with the doctor and the complexity of your medical condition. We cannot always predict how much time your consultation will take. If you are eligible for a Medicare rebate, you can claim back some of the cost of your consultation and we can process this instantly for you at the reception counter.
Procedures, travel and non-schedule vaccines and some consumables will incur an extra cost. Please discuss the charges with your doctor beforehand.
Our doctors review the fees annually. Any rises will be carefully considered, taking into account benchmarks published by the AMA (Australian Medical Association).
The costs of running a safe, high-quality service are significant – rent, wages, IT, consumables, accreditation, insurance. All these costs are borne by the doctors; contrary to popular belief – the government does not directly contribute to the vast majority of these costs.
Below is a summary of the most usual consultation fees:

Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend for a scheduled appointment, please contact us in advance to cancel or change your appointment time. A fee will be charged for failure to attend or cancellation at short notice. (Please note: this fee is not Medicare rebatable).
Medicare Rebates
Ways to get your Medicare rebate:
- Instant Medicare rebates can be processed by our payment terminals at reception — you can pay by credit card, but need a debit bank card to get the rebate
- Telehealth appointments are billed automatically at the end of the consultation, and rebates are processed immediately
- Lodge Medicare claims online through Medicare Online Services
- Submit a Medicare claim form by mail or at a drop-box at a Medicare Service Centre
- Claim in person at a Medicare service centre
International Students & Visitors
If you have Visitor or Overseas Student health cover with BUPA or Allianz, we can process your rebate on the spot. You will only be out of pocket for the gap between the insurance rebate and the consultation fee. This gap amount will vary depending on the duration of your consultation, and any extra services provided.
WorkCover and TAC
WorkCover applies to consultations about an injury that has occurred in the workplace. TAC applies to consultations about injuries sustained in a road traffic accident. Medicare does not rebate these consultations.
Royal Park Medical requires patients to pay in full for their WorkCover or TAC consultation. You can then seek reimbursement from the relevant insurance company or your employer. There will be an out of pocket cost.
The employer should reimburse the first $735 of a WorkCover claim.
The first $651 of a TAC claim must be met by the patient, unless you were admitted to hospital after the accident. You may receive a partial Medicare rebate for the services received.
